Rail corridor development

The organisers of Land-Linked Zambia 2026 confirmed that key Southern African railway stakeholders would participate in the conference and exhibition.

The event theme, Beyond Borders: Re-Imagining Africa's Transport Corridors for Prosperity, reflected the growing regional shift toward a more connected, land-linked Africa.

Participants included Tanzania-Zambia Railway Authority, Zambia Railways Limited, Botswana Railways, Lobito Atlantic Railway, SNCC, Transnet, Mozambique Ports and Railways Company, the Southern African Railways Association, Traxtion, Calabash Freight, Plasser and Theurer, voestalpine, North Rail, and others.

Corridor Development Driving Regional Integration

Discussions focused on strategic rail corridors linking inland economies to major seaports, including the TAZARA corridor, the North-South Corridor, the Lobito Corridor, and Mozambique routes.

From Infrastructure to Interoperability

While infrastructure investment is accelerating, the focus is increasingly shifting toward interoperability, coordination, and operational efficiency.
